Two rows of buttons don't work

Post by exeunter »

I finished soldering the board, went to test the signal generator as recommended by the instructions, and immediately ran into a problem. The top row of buttons (1, 2, 3, ESC) and the second row of buttons (4, 5, 6, WF) do not work. All other buttons and dials work.

I did some troubleshooting with a multimeter, and it looks like D5- is not connected to DB6 and D6- is not connected to DB7. As a sanity check, I buzzed a working row of buttons (D4- to DB5), and that checked out ok. There are no leads on D5 and D6, so I'm not sure if a workaround or repair is possible. What are my options here? The sig-gen is not really useable without buttons 1 - 6, ESC, and WF.

Thanks,

Steve

Would you be able to confirm D5 & D6 are dead? To do this please, if possible, try replacing D5 & D6 with leaded diodes (any general purpose diode like 1N4148 is good). Just solder them to the pads.
