We recently received reports of several cases that FG058 displays a row of bricks at powering-up and no sights of life. It was found that at least some of these cases were caused by not working oscillator. We tried replacing C14 and C15 with smaller value (15pF) then the boards worked. The original value (22pF) may be marginal for the crystals. So if you see this case try replaceing C14 and C15 with 15PF or 18pF. You can use small through-hole ceramic disc caps if SMD caps are no available.
Another possible (but less likely) cause for this issue is bad crystal. Replacing crystal is a bit harder since the other side is blocked by LCD module.
See attachment for C14 and C15 locations.
FG085 displays a row of bricks and doesn't work
Re: FG085 displays a row of bricks and doesn't work
I have the same problem with my FG085. It worked when i did "powering up the first time", so i mounted all panels a few weeks ago.
Today it always displays a row of bricks and doesn't work. I found your entry in the forum and started to change the two capacitors C14 and C15 to smaller values as mentioned: 15pF or 18pF. Both values do not work on my board. Finally i changed them to 12pF (both) and now it works. Maybe some other broken boards could reactivated this way.
