I have downloaded the firmware, version 113-08501-130.hex
I have downloaded avrubd.exe
I installed the Windows driver and have the minidds set to Com1
I can not get anything to work at this point.
I open the software, and try to load the HEX file and I get an error Buffer overflow:[8208] > [8192]
So I know I am doing something wrong, but have no clue how to proceed.
I would like help to upgrade the firmware.
I would like to be directed to the Windows 7 software to work with the minidds.
Thank you,
Joseph Massimino
Need Help to upgrade Firmware FG085 Minidds
Re: Need Help to upgrade Firmware FG085 Minidds
Usually the virtual com port does not take COM1. In our systems it almost always takes COM3, 4, or 5. So it is suggest to double check the port number by looking at the Device Manager while plugging/unplugging the USB connection.
The buffer overflow problem could be caused by incorrect flash size selected. Go to the Option menu and select flash size again. For U5 (ATmega168) the size should be 16K. For U6 (ATMega48) it should be 4K.

Re: Need Help to upgrade Firmware FG085 Minidds
I forgot to mention in the previous post that FG085 does not have bootloader so it can not be upgraded firmware via USB. An AVR programmer has to be used. Please visit http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ or http://www.jyetech.com/Products/073/e073.php for compatible programmers.
