AVR Programmer

Following the instructions for firmware update on FG085, with the 07302 module, when I get to the read fuse bits and lock bits...the program fails. Setup as in picture and USBasp driver installed ok per Device manager. "No supported Programmer found". I have the FG085 powered up by it's own pwr supply and the jumper for pwr tar is off. Slo Clock is on. Did I get a bad programmer after all this wait? Does the programmer have to be programmed? If yes, how?

Found out it puts out the same error if the programmer is not attached to USB port. Seems it might be the USBasp driver? Tried more than one USB cable just to check.

Well, found Extreme burner doesn't recognize the programmer if Device manager lists it under USB devices, must be a lib-win32 device. now it finds the programmer, but doesn't recognize the chip to be programmed. (ATMEGA48 or ATMEGA168). Both LED's on the programmer are lit.

BTW the board ID on the 07302 (Lot 180508) is: CjzRa8b5

My ID for my 08503K FG085 (Lot 180412) is: tzGhs5b5

Rang out the cable and it is ok.

Please check if the devices have a suffix 'A'. That might make difference for some programming software.

My unit has a MEGA48PA and MEGA168PA is that what you were asking? The board P/N is 109-08500-00P. Using the instructions from your webpage for the FG085,
Found link for extreme burner 1.4 and jumped thru the hoops to download it. It has a chip selection for a MEGA168/168v/168A. tried it for U5.
(read fuse bits/lock bits) and it still say incorrect chip. Looking like the 07302 is def?

Please try remove the file "libusb0.sys" from te eXtreme Burner folder.

You can also try this http://www.jyetech.com/Support/progisp172.rar .

Removing libusb0.sys did nothing. Don't know how to run progisp...It seems to be looking for a serial port (com port) this is USBasp on libusb-win32. Also all documents including readme are in Chinese which I cant read. Sorry.

Any more suggestions/ideas? Possible the programmer is defective?
