DSO150 rotary encoder only moves down on certain functions

Post by BartPcb »

Hi,
I purchased a dso150 kit a while back and it worked fine untill a few days ago. Now it seems the central knob can only turn down, on certain functions. So on voltage and sec/div it can only turn down, so I am constantly on 5mv and 10 us. but on trigger state it reaches SING and won't loop over, untill I turn the other way on the knob, so it is registering direction. The voltage selector for trigger can also only move down.
I opened it up but don't see anything broken. Can somebody please tell me what is the problem? It seems to be software but a reset doesn't fix it.

Thanks

I checked all connections of the rotary encoder with the FAQ guide and everything seems to match perfectly.

So, it sounds like it's a software problem? Or is there another unchecked potential issue source?

Yes it does look like software but I didn't do anything to the flash, one day it just booted up like this. I'm not sure if I can easily reflash the soc, I don't have an st link or anything, just a uart chip.
