Measuring AC waveforms

Hi, I would like to check the AC waveforms coming from my outlet and my UPS, would that be possible using a DSO Shell with an attenuator, such as this one?
I know I would also need to connect the probe's ground to earth ground (not neutral) to avoid any disasters...

Anything else I should be aware of? I am a relative newcomer to digital oscilloscopes so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know. It's been a long time since you posted this. I just joined as a new DSO150 user.

As to your question. I did a few things with my unit after assembly and one of the was to test the AC waveform output from a 240V / 9V step down transformer. All I did was set the DSO to AC and connect the probes to the transformer 9VAC output and the waveform appears fine. That's it. Obviously I wouldn't try that with the 240 VAC supply because the limit is 50 VAC or VDC as I understand. I also produced half and full AC/DC rectification waveforms using diodes and they displayed fine including the tabulated values.
