Let the smoke out. 9V adapter bad

Post by BillyK »

I got to test and build my DSO however, the screen all of the sudden went white. I powered it off and U3 has really hot to the touch. It had me wondering so I checked the 9v wall wart and it was showing 17V. I trashed the P/S and grabbed one that did measure 9V. Plugged it back in and it started to smoke and U3 smells and has a bubble so I guess it's shot. Anything I can do ?
the PID is cXwbcLb5

The board PN is 109-15000-00E1
I still get a white screen so I hope it's only U3 (I think it's a voltage regulator).
Thanks!!
BillyK

EDIT: It was the 3.3V regulator and D2 seems to be ok. I'll post pics when I can
