Damaged board after incorrect mating

Post by mtartist »

After soldering the kit, I connected the boards incorrectly. The 5x2 headers were not mated correctly, so two of the pins were hanging in thin air.

The negative test voltages, are now incorrect and so are V1, V2, V3 and V4. I don't see a trace on the screen. If I disconnect the analogue board, a see a sinusoidal wave on the screen, presumably noise and all the buttons remain fully functional.

I'm assuming that the ICL7660 is blown. Do you think that anything else might have been damaged? I not, I will attempt to replace the chip.

Thank you.

Did you have negative voltage before? If you did and now the negative voltage is gone it is highly possible that the 7660 has been blown.

Just a small update. Replaced the ICL7660 chip and all is good.

Thank you.
