Re: Software to capture and plot with the new firmwares

I upload the wrong picture I see to the server.
Yes the shell was on and then I launch the file, but nothing happen.
The red led on the TTL-board goes on, thats it....no GNUplot.
The RX cq TX led don't burn, so there is no datatransfer.
I try start over and over again with all options I can think about it.

I think it is because of the whitespaces in the file name
I will possibly get round to making a "page" with a list of features each version has and a proper "download" link for each
but till then...as I can't promise not to use whitespaces in file names... just go to that directory and it will list them all :D :D

With the DSO shell on and working
set the settings so you have the waveform you want to "capture"

tell the windows app to capture the data (on the early version just fire it up - on the new one tell it which com port first)

on the DSO Shell - press V/DIV and ADJ at the same time (I tend to hold down V/DIV and tap ADJ then let go of both)

You will see the screen on the dso say "send data....." at the bottom left
this is when you will see data flying up the windows app screen and it will do its thing
when it has done -(on the early version you have there) gnuplot will just open with the graph
on the new one after it has done - hit enter and gnuplot will open the graph

Just updated DSO150 v1.6.1 and re-uploaded it
I have added that V/Div and ADJ need pressing at the same for data to flow

So did you get a graph automatically?

If not double click the file dso150gnuplot.plt file in that directory (it should already be associated with gnuplot)

If it didn't magically open the gnuplot graph at the end you may need to add gnuplot to your environment variables under Windows

As a test
open a dos box and type 'gnuplot --version'
If it returns the version number of gnuplot it should just open the graph at the end

If you get a message "gnuplot s not recognized...blah blah blah' - then it needs adding to the environment variables
(I can guide you if needed - though I am fairly certain the newer gnuplot versions do ask if you want to add it to the environment variables during install time)

The only "problem" is the plot will be overwrite and not rename.....but IT WORKS, GREAT !!
So the problem is you can not make a few plots befor you move or rename the first file, but anything seems OK for me at the moment.
Rome is not build in one day :D

Awesome!
DSO Shell V1.7.0.zip uploaded

Now timestamped for plots, data and debug, so no more over writing, but beware that directories will get busy!

So relieved to see it working on another PC
The new version is getting annoying that I have to keep typing in the com port manually - but I think I need /something/ for those that will have it on a non standard com port
Maybe a text file with some settings that can be edited before running the app?
(like a settings.ini that gets read at runtime?)

Suggestions welcomed

Means that you can 'overlay 2 plots together' and replot from within gnuplot
(not quite a dual trace scope...but for £15 of hardware and free software what more do you want ?)#

You will have to keep the directory from getting fat fast!
