Yet another overvoltage

Post by revro »

I got the kit and proceeded to do the power check using an adapter I had at home. Nothing happened, the screen was black and the LED was off. I tried another adapter and still nothing. After a while I decided to check the output of the adapters and to my horror the first one showed 18V, despite the label claiming 9V... My question is, is it possible that only the LM1117 chip is fried and the rest is ok, or is it likely that I fried other components as well? The LM1117 I could feasibly replace but I don't have the tools or skill to replace the main chip, so if it's likely that other components are damaged I'll just get another main board.

The analog board gets raw voltage from the power supply so probably it's damaged too. Especially the ICL7660 which is rated 10V max.
The main board gets its supply from LM1117. Therefore most likely nothing got fried on main board except for the LM1117.
