I also had some problems, and at the beginning the chip was not even detected at all.
I decided to try halving the UART speed and the device was detected but there were errors while flashing the firmware.
Finally, I configured the interface to 9600 kbps instead of the default 115200 kbps and everything went fine (although it took 10 minutes!).
I used an USB to UART adapter purchased en eBay which has a golden ring all around, other models didn't work for me.
[SOLVED] Cant flash firmware
Re: [SOLVED] Cant flash firmware
Hello,
This one http://www.ebay.com/itm/182329358022?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
is working, but i must have to connect the 3.3V pin too, otherwise DSO is undetectable by the flasher.

Re: [SOLVED] Cant flash firmware
Hi,
I also faced the issue. I am using CP2102 module with FlashMagic successfully. So I have tried several situation. if you have an interest, visit my weblog http://trysound.at.webry.info/201705/article_3.html (sorry Japanese only, please use some translator.). In fact, I connected TX1 and RX1 instead of TX and RX directly. The serial module which I am using is 3.3V I/O , thus it is not to need resistor I thought.
Please trying with the your own risk.
I hope you enjoy an electronics working.
Regards,
Koichi
