Power Supply for DSO Shell

Post by r0ck »

Hi,

I just received my DSO Shell today but dont have a 9V Power Supply yet.

What can I use instead? Are two 18650 Li-Ion Batteries ok, or will I burn something?

The voltage of two 18650 is a bit too low. The analog board might not be able to work properly. But you can try. The main board should work. It won't burn anything if connected properly.

Thx for the answer!

I connected the two 18650s.

Here are my readings:

Code: Select all

Input: 8.34V
V+: 7.4V
AV+: 5.85V
V-: -6.71V
AV-: -5.3V
V1: 3.7mV
V2: 3.3mV
V3: 1.7mV
V4: 1.477V
V5: -0.997V
Measured set to GND.

Everything ok? Do V1 to V3 need to be completely 0.0 mV?

The voltages were pretty good. A few milli-volts are considered 0 for situation like this.

Well.
Doesn't work. As soon as I turn it on I get a Signal that shoots up and goes to to ceiling.

I cannot bring it down , no matter what. I can only change the Intervall (seconds) to make the bar flash quicker or slower.

Also if I turn the knob counter clockwise it incremets. If I turn it clockwise it decrements. I am used to the other way around ??

edit:
Wasted my hole day for this. Kind of annoyed by this product. Cant join the site over google, getting porn instead. Cant find documentation on product site. Says 138 Firmware update guide. Cannot find Firmware files on website. Have to find the Firmware files in some random threads in the forums. And then it says file doesnt exist anymore.

The linked pdf to dso 150 fw upgrade guide in a random thread is also non existent. And the faq thread lacks the images. All figures down. What the hell?
I was really exited about these products . People told me that there are cheaper fakes, and that it isnt a revolutionary idea and that these mini scopes have been there before, but I have always been defensive about jyetech and their commitment. But now I have this thing here and it sucks.

I might even have broken something by now , I dont know. I desoldered most of the times even 3 times now! and resoldered again and again, hoping for the thing to work properly.

Still same.

Hi, r0ck,

According to my experience with it, this scope is very sensible to power supply quality; my first tries were with a wall wart that supplied 9V unloaded and 8V loaded, the digital board went OK, but when I plugged the analog board it started making weird things, fo example it worked perfectly in some ranges (V/DIV) and bad on other ranges. All the problems disappeared when I used a 5V to 9V boost module.

So if you want to use 18650 batteries, I'd suggest to use one of these boost modules, even with only one cell, so you can have stable 9V (or 8-10V, but stabilized).
