Bad Crystal

Post by adam »

I received a bad crystal with my DSO 068 kit. I spent a good bit of time trying to figure out why the last step of the initial power up test was failing. I took a 20MHz crystal out of an old linksys router and it booted right up. Is there a process to get a replacement?

I also had a bad crystal resulting in a failed powering-up test 1. When I replaced the crystal the test was passed successfully. Look slike this is a critical bad quality component.

Interestingly, mine too failed the power-up test and I tracked the issue to the crystal by process of elimination. I then removed and re-installed the crystal and all was well. IDK why this happens, as the crystal was properly installed the first time. All that I know is that removing and re-soldering it solved the failure issue. Now I want to upgrade the main firmware to the newest level, if I can find English instructions... :)
