Upgrade firmware by AVRDude
From time to time we got inquiries about how to use AVRDude to upgrade DSO 062 (and other oscilloscopes) firmware. This method has been discussed in the old forum but that was unfortunately lost due to the collapse of website. Our customer, Colin Bell, asked the same question recently and solved the...

Re: Need Help to upgrade Firmware FG085 Minidds
I forgot to mention in the previous post that FG085 does not have bootloader so it can not be upgraded firmware via USB. An AVR programmer has to be used. Please visit http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ or http://www.jyetech.com/Products/073/e073.php for compatible programmers.

Re: New firmware (08501-130) released
To your second question, send the following sequence
0xE1, 0x04, 0x00, 0x00
It should reply
0xE2, 0x09, 0x00, 0x47, 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00
where 0x47 ('G') represents Generator and the following 0x01 is for FG085.
0xE1, 0x04, 0x00, 0x00
It should reply
0xE2, 0x09, 0x00, 0x47, 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00
where 0x47 ('G') represents Generator and the following 0x01 is for FG085.

Re: New firmware (08501-130) released
Sorry, what the manual described does not reflect a last minute change. There are 8 bytes reserved after the Date Size field and before waveform data start. So actually waveform date start at offset 0x0E instead of 0x06 as stated in the manual. Accordingly, the overall frame size should be 14 + 256 ...

Re: Need Help to upgrade Firmware FG085 Minidds
Usually the virtual com port does not take COM1. In our systems it almost always takes COM3, 4, or 5. So it is suggest to double check the port number by looking at the Device Manager while plugging/unplugging the USB connection. The buffer overflow problem could be caused by incorrect flash size se...
