I forgot to mention in the previous post that FG085 does not have bootloader so it can not be upgraded firmware via USB. An AVR programmer has to be used. Please visit http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ or http://www.jyetech.com/Products/073/e073.php for compatible programmers.

To your second question, send the following sequence

0xE1, 0x04, 0x00, 0x00

It should reply

0xE2, 0x09, 0x00, 0x47, 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00

where 0x47 ('G') represents Generator and the following 0x01 is for FG085.
