An alternative to tape is to cut approx. 1mm length off the pins.
This has the added benefit of making it easier to fit board and case together.

Okay, I got it, thanks. I've had a number of phones and tablets with protective film, but nothing as stubborn/difficult as this one.

Mark on LCD screen?
Greetings, 1) the LCD screen has the number "87" printed directly on the surface (see attached). What is the purpose of this and how do I remove it? 2) there was a piece of tape stuck to the lower-right corner of the screen. I thought it was a pull tab for a protective film over the screen...
