Re: DSO150 problems.

x12345, did you remember to disconnect JP1 and JP2 after flashing the new firmware?

Re: Incorrect reference voltages and hot U5

Is there a definitive way to determine if there's a short? I wouldn't mind getting the first unit working, too. I already verified that U5 receives the correct voltage on pin 8. Well, you now have one working Shell and one non-working Shell, both probably with the same F analog board. So if it were...

Re: Incorrect reference voltages and hot U5

SOLVED! Alphaseek: Thanks for the suggestions, though I was able to get this working last night! I actually have the "F" revision. You were on the right track with the C10 and C11. Everything was soldered in correctly, so that's why I was so frustrated! Thankfully, replacing them complete...

TMH01 wrote:I tried new caps in the original unit with the overheating U5. No change. So, I think that one is definitely a faulty voltage regulator.
Possibly, but a short somewhere downstream could also cause the overheating.

Re: "reading eeprom failed" when connecting li-ion battery p

I haven't followed this issue, but there are two other threads here that deal with it. Those might give you a solution.

Re: Incorrect reference voltages and hot U5

I assume you have the new "E" analog board. If so, it seems it could be a bad U5 or a bad U6, or something downstream from U6 that's drawing excessive current - a near short. I don't know how you would test those possibilities with everything being SMD. Maybe someone else will have an idea...

Re: Li-ion power mod

I think the geek's cartoons have some valid ideas. But when I tested my 1300 mah battery, I finally just gave up after five hours when the battery was down to about 3.8V and the scope was still running strong. So while it certainly isn't efficient to produce a regulated 3.3V from 8.3V, you reach a p...

Re: I am at my wits end..

Banggood is one store. The three DSO150 items there are different products. One is completely assembled, and there are two different kits, one with the surface mount parts already installed, and the other with nothing pre-installed. The 15001K is the cheapest, has the SMD stuff already installed, an...

Re: Li-ion power mod

alphaseek: Sorry for my late reply. I attached a couple of pictures (main board, analog board). I hope they are self explained. In case further explanation is needed, please let me know ;-) Regarding noise problems: I tested everything with just 9V battery and what I have and there are differences,...

Re: I am at my wits end..

I had sent an email to jye1 about a circuit question I had, and he finally responded yesterday. He said their main office is back open, but he is still travelling, and will be until the end of March. Currently in Peru. I don't know if they have anyone else that's fluent enough in English to answer q...
