The DSO138 is fairly sensitive to the power supply. I've found that the minimum voltage needed to operate correctly is somewhat over 6.8V and somewhat under 12V. This low voltage level is due to the reverse voltage protection diode, a 1N4004 that will drop 0.6V - 0.7V, and the LM78L05 positive volta...

As you probably know, that resistor in the supply path for the LCD backlight. I'm guessing that if you can see the LCD, no further damage has been done. The input power feeds only three circuit directly: The +5V regulator, a LM78L05 in a TO92 package. The 78L05 is good to about 35V input voltage. At...
